Blackhawk volleyball sweeps Christian Academy on the road

The Springs Valley volleyball team returned to action on Thursday, traveling to New Albany to take on Christian Academy. The Blackhawks' stay was a short one as they bounced the Warriors in straight sets, winning 25-16, 25-10, 25-14. Bella Nottger proved to be a problem at the net for Christian Academy both offensively and defensively. The junior had an efficient nine kills on 11 swings while also leading Springs Valley with four blocks. Brynne Buchanan was also key to the win as she had a strong night in service with five aces while also passing the ball well on serve receive, piling up a team-high seven digs and tallying three kills on four attempts offensively. Leigh Carnes was a force as ever, leading the Blackhawks with 10 kills and 16 assists. She also had four digs and made just one error on 13 serve attempts. Springs Valley (3-2, 0-0 PLAC) will play its second match of the week on Saturday, hosting Wood Memorial for its home opener. That match will begin at Noon.
