Springs Valley cross country opens season at Forest Park Invite

The Springs Valley cross country team took its first steps of the season on Thursday as it competed in the Forest Park Running Ranger Invite. The Blackhawks' evening was highlighted by a pair of medalist performances as Grant Brown finished fifth in the boys' race with a time of 17:45.8 and Alan Marshall finished 10th with a time of 18:21.6. Matthew Woolsey also competed in the boys' race for Springs Valley, making his varsity debut with a time of 25:44.7. In the girls' race it was Keira Lynch who led the way for Springs Valley, posting a personal-best time of 25:40.8 to finish 26th. Sophie Harris was the next Blackhawk to finish, shaving five minutes off of her time at Forest Park last year to finish 35th, Jadyn Lynch was just behind her in 39th and Josie Robison rounded out the event for the 'Hawks by finishing 49th in her varsity debut. The Blackhawks will run again on Saturday, making a trip to Shelbyville for the Southwestern Small School Invite.
