The Springs Valley Boys XC team scored a perfect score of 15 enroute to capturing the Bloomfield XC invitational Championship on Saturday. The boys finished in 5 of the first 6 spots and cruised to the victory. The Bloomfield course was a challenging, rugged and hilly terrain set entirely on grass and consisting of one 5K lap. Coach Derek Freeman told the kids before the race to push themselves and work on improving from their previous meet. Several of the kids did improve their times and set new PR’s. Grant Brown led the way for the Hawks winning the boys race in a time of 17:20.1. His brother Carson Brown was 2nd in 17:31.9 and Alan Marshall was 3rd in 17:41.5. Andre Ayres was 5th in 18:54.1 while Harry Dybsetter crossed in a new PR of 19:17.6 and 6th overall. Dane Harris ran a strong race finishing 15th in 21:19. Keaton Thacker shaved a minute off his time from Thursday to set a new PR of 24:15.2 and place 22nd. For the girls Sophie Harris set the pace by placing 2nd overall and setting a new PR in 22:56.9. Freshman Addi Moffat made her high school debut and placed 7th overall in 24:59.4. Jadyn Lynch placed 13th in 27:31.9. The girls, with only 3 running, did not have enough to compete as a team. Coach Freeman said, “It was a tougher course but we attacked the hills and gave a great effort today. I asked for improvement today and I saw improvement today. I am very proud of the kids and their effort.” The results from today’s meet can be viewed here: https://bit.ly/3LvKTMm There is not much time to rest as the Varsity and Junior High teams are back on the course this Tuesday at the Southridge Invitational in Huntingburg.
