In its first home game in more than a month, the Springs Valley football team didn't disappoint the home crowd. The Blackhawks romped to a 68-7 defeat of Patoka Lake Athletic Conference foe Crawford County on Friday. Senior quarterback Mavrick Land returned to action in a more consistent manner against the Wolfpack after taking limited snaps against Salem. He completed all three of his passes, totaling 136 yards and scoring a pair of touchdowns. One of those was a 91-yard catch-and-run by James Walls, the other was a 25-yarder to Jaheim Hamilton. The Blackhawks were also explosive on the ground, averaging more than 14 yards per carry as a team. Konner Chase ran the ball three times, but compiled 104 yards and two touchdowns. Christian Hamilton's three carries resulted in 56 yards and two touchdowns. Larron Childers took the ball twice, scored once, and put up 55 yards. Noah Allstott was Valley's most used ballcarrier against Crawford County, getting the ball seven times and putting up 47 yards and a touchdown. Elijah Dickey also scored on the ground. Childers and Xander Cook had one sack each. Chase had an interception. Brycen Cave forced a fumble. Ethan Parker and Paxton Roach each recovered a fumble. Jonas Hammond led the team with 16 tackles including three for a loss. Springs Valley (4-1, 3-1 PLAC) will be at home again next week, hosting potential sectional foe Tecumseh.
