Springs Valley jams the gym, ousts Orleans in sweep

By SV Staff | Sep 12, 2023 12:00 AM

The Springs Valley volleyball team celebrated its annual "Jam the Gym" event on Monday, hosting Orange County rival Orleans and beating the Bulldogs 25-8, 25-12, 25-7 with quite the crowd on hand. Kinsey Saliba was superb against her former school, killing all five of her attacking attempts while also stacking up six aces on 27/28 serving. The sophomore also had a block and eight digs. Leigh Carnes made history against the Bulldogs, recording the 211th aces of her career to break Springs Valley's all-time record, previously held by Allison Hammond. Springs Valley (16-1, 3-0 PLAC) is now halfway to another Patoka Lake Athletic Conference championship, needing just three more wins to complete the sweep of the conference. Before the Blackhawks can worry about that, though, they'll have to take on another rival — Northeast Dubois — on Tuesday.
