Following its incredibly performance at the Class A Showdown over the weekend, the Springs Valley volleyball team fell flat on Tuesday when it traveled to Loogootee. The Blackhawks fought back valiantly from a 2-1 deficit to force a fifth set, but lost 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 15-10. Maddie Carnes had a monster performance, seemingly keeping the Blackhawks above water singlehandedly for stretches of the match. The sophomore collected a career-high 30 kills on 75 attempts, also tallying 22 assists, 17 digs, a block, and two aces on 12/15 serving. Springs Valley (23-3, 4-0 PLAC) will try to get back on track on Thursday when it hits the road to play Orange County rival Paoli.
