By SV Staff | Oct 9, 2023 12:00 AM

At the halftime break, the Springs Valley football team led Patoka Lake Athletic Conference foe Perry Central just 14-6. The Blackhawks had led 8-0 at the end of the first quarter, then managed to distance themselves just before the half after a Commodores touchdown made the score 8-6. That was as close as the visiting team would get though. James Walls started the second half by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown and from there it was all Valley as the 'Hawks won 38-6. Walls was a big figure in the matchup, using two kickoff returns of 143 yards to give his teammates some energy. He also had three tackles. Larron Childers was present as ever for Valley, not only carrying the ball 10 times for 53 yards, but also making a team-high 18 tackles including two for a loss and blocking a punt. The night belonged to Konner Chase offensively. He toted the rock 18 times for 73 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 22-yard reception. Christian Hamilton was also strong, running five times for 69 yards and a touchdown. Keaton Pritchett made big plays on both sides of the ball, catching a pair of passes for 68 yards and then intercepting a pass defensively as well. Jonas Hammond has seven tackles including a sack. Xander Cook had two tackles including one for a loss and a quarterback hurry. Teagun Rominger recovered a fumble for the second time this season. Springs Valley (7-1, 4-1 PLAC) has now won five games in a row since its week three loss at Paoli. The Blackhawks will try to make it six in a row next week and post their best regular-season record since 1998 when they travel to North Daviess.
