The Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association (IHSVCA) released its list of Academic All-State honorees on Monday, including a pair of Blackhawks. Seniors Bella Nottger and Molly Tucker both made the cut, earning the association's Gold Award for earning grade point averages higher than 3.75. A three-year starter, Tucker had a historic career for Springs Valley. She followed in her sister Sydney's footsteps, joining her near the top of the all-time digs leaderboard with 909, the fifth-most ever. She also had 96 career aces in just three seasons — including 40 apiece in her junior and senior seasons — and received 1185 serves, committing only 84 errors in the process. On top of her excellence in the classroom, Nottger became the program's 12th First-Team All-State selection back in 2022. Despite sitting out her sophomore season due to transfer rules and missing a chunk of her senior season after tearing one of her anterior cruciate ligaments she still put up strong numbers. Across 991 career attacks, she recorded 449 kills with just 154 errors, giving her a career hitting percentage of .298. She was also proficient defensively at the net, recording 136 blocks in that short timespan. Together, Nottger and Tucker helped Springs Valley win three Patoka Lake Athletic Conference championships, two Class A Showdown championships, and two sectional championships.
