Springs Valley dominates first half, takes down North Daviess on the road

Seven different Blackhawks scored a touchdown on Friday as the Springs Valley football team decimated North Daviess 50-14. The Blackhawks took a 44-0 lead into the half before allowing a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and scoring once more in the fourth quarter. Mavrick Land had a productive night for the Blackhawks in the passing game. The senior quarterback completed three of his six passing attempts for 91 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball four times for 23 yards and a touchdown. Christian Hamilton was a home-run hitter in the running game, taking six carries for 90 yards and a touchdown. Larron Childers, Blake Buchanan, and Konner Chase also scored on the ground. Elijah Dickey was excellent in the late stages of the game, carrying the ball seven times for 71 yards. James Walls had a pair of catches for 59 yards and a touchdown. Jaheim Hamilton had one catch for 32 yards and a touchdown. Kayce Jones was incredibly active on the defensive end, leading Springs Valley with seven tackles including one for a loss. Teagun Rominger had a pair of tackles for a loss. Paxton Roach had 1.5 tackles for a loss, Childers had one, Jonas Hammond had one, and Augie Purkhiser had one. Elijah Dickey and Braden Collier each had 0.5 tackles for a loss. Springs Valley (8-1, 5-1 PLAC) has now won six games in a row. The win was also the eighth of the regular season for the Blackhawks, their highest total since 1998. They'll try to keep the streak alive next Friday when they open sectional play at South Spencer.
