The Springs Valley football team booked its second trip to the sectional championship round in the last three years on Friday, hosting West Washington and defeating the Senators 24-0. After a scoreless first quarter, Larron Childers opened the scoring in the second. The senior finished the evening with 15 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns. It was his fifth 100+-yard performance and his fifth multi-touchdown performance of the season. Konner Chase had Springs Valley's other touchdown, putting up 196 yards — a career-high — on 21 carries. It was also his fifth game with 100 rushing yards or more this season. Kayce Jones led the defense with 13 tackles. Teagun Rominger also had an impact with 10 tackles. Noah Allstott stepped up in a big way as well, making 10 tackles including his first varsity sack, forcing a fumble, and recovering a pair of fumbles. Keaton Pritchett was a sparkplug for the Springs Valle defense against West Washington, making a touchdown-saving play early by chasing down a West Washington ballcarrier and punching the ball out just before the goal line for a takeaway. He also recovered the fumble. Chase and Christian Hamilton each had an interception in the game. Augie Purkhiser blocked a punt. Springs Valley (10-1) has now won eight games in a row and set a new high for single-season wins since 1994 with its 10th. The Blackhawks will try to bring home their first sectional championship since 1992 next week when they travel to Providence.
