The Springs Valley cross country team switched things up on Tuesday, traveling to Silver Creek for a different sort of competition. On Tuesday the Blackhawks competed in the Darrell Kingery Hokum Karem, a race in which runners partner up in pairs and alternate running one-mile loops until each runner has ran three laps. In the boys' race, Springs Valley's top two runners teamed up and found great success as Grant Brown and Alan Marshall won the whole thing with a time of 32:34, nearly 40 seconds faster than the next-best team. Matthew Woolsey and Carson Brown also teamed up to get into the top 25 and earn a medal, finishing 23rd with a time of 42:09. Keira and Jadyn Lynch teamed up in the girls' race to lead the way for Springs Valley. The twins finished the event with a time of 49:20, earning a medal with a 24th-place finish. Josie Robison and Alexis Courtney were the other full Springs Valley team, finishing 34th. Sophie Harris partnered up with a runner form Christian Academy to finish 33rd. The Blackhawks will return to their typical 5k racing on Thursday, Sep. 1 when they hit the road for the North Harrison Invitational.
