Following its annual tryout event on Sunday, the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced its Indiana All-Star teams for 2023. For the first time ever, multiple Springs Valley Blackhawks were selected for the Class 1A/2A game as Leigh Carnes, Bella Nottger, and Molly Tucker all earned an opportunity to represent the south. Carnes was an all-around force for Springs Valley in her final season, racking up 390 kills, 445 assists, 230 digs, and 68 aces. That ace total was one of the highest single-season numbers in program history and allowed Carnes to become the program's career aces leader. She was also named Class 1A First-Team All-State earlier this month. Nottger missed multiple matches due to injury, but still produced when she was on the court. She had 143 kills and posted a hitting percentage of .301, also posting a team-high in blocks with 48. She had 92 digs and 24 aces, committing just 22 service errors on 195 attempts. Tucker was rock solid in the back row for Springs Valley. She posted a career-high 321 digs in her third season as the Blackhawks' libero. She also served up a career-high 40 aces while committing just 43 errors on 357 attempts. Prior to this trio of selections, there had only been six players to land on an all-star team in Springs Valley history. Carnes, Nottger, and Tucker join Allison Hammond, Caity Pierce, Caitlyn Reynolds, Sydney Tucker, Darcie Warner, and Danielle Wilson in receiving the honor. They'll play in the IHSVCA's Indiana All-Star Match next Sunday at Lawrence North High School.
