Springs Valley soars in home opener against Forest Park

It was all gas, no brakes for the Springs Valley girls' basketball team on Thursday as it hosted Forest Park in its first home game of the season. The Blackhawks ran out to a 9-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game and never looked back, going on to win 55-37. It was a true team effort as four Blackhawks scored in double digits. Maci Eckerty once again led the way for Springs Valley with a team-high 15 points. The sophomore hit three of her six 3-pointers, also tallying three assists and deflecting four passes. Gracie Allstott was also superb, scoring 11 points while hitting three of her five 3-point attempts. She also had two rebounds and two assists. Tori McCormick scored 10 points on an efficient four-of-five shooting. She also had three rebounds and three steals. Maddie Carnes stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 10 points while also grabbing six rebounds. She also had five assists, three blocks, and a steal. Bella Nottger scored six points on perfect shooting with four rebounds and a block. Leigh Carnes had three points and five rebounds. Kynleigh Dalton had an assist. Kyan Green had a block. Springs Valley (2-0) will be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to North Daviess.
