Blackhawk boys drop season opener at Mitchell

The Springs Valley boys' basketball team opened its season at Mitchell on Tuesday, falling 68-51. The Blackhawks trailed just 14-13 after one quarter, then 31-26 at halftime, but a third quarter in which they were outscored 26-13 ultimately proved too much to overcome. Deion Edwards led the way for Springs Valley offensively, hitting more than half his shots on the way to 18 points. The junior also had three rebounds and a block. Larron Childers was also strong, putting up 12 points and grabbing three rebounds. The senior knocked down three of his four 3-pointers. Konner Chase contributed seven points, two rebounds, and an assist. James Walls had six points and a rebound. Jaheim Hamilton had four points, four steals, and an assist. Mavrick Land had two points an assist, and a steal. Keyton Jones had two points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Evan Brown had a rebound and an assist. Christian Hamilton had three rebounds and an assist. Kayce Jones had an assist. Springs Valley (0-1, 0-1 PLAC) will return to action on Friday, Dec. 1 when they hit the road to face Orange County rival Orleans.
