Blackhawks take down Barr-Reeve in Sectional 63 Championship rematch

The Springs Valley girls' basketball team hit the road on Tuesday, traveling to Barr-Reeve and defeating the Vikings 41-25. The Blackhawks dominated the first quarter, leading 12-4 after the opening period. They'd stretch the lead to 25-13 by halftime. Their scoring output fell off in the second half, but they still won comfortably. Maddie Carnes continued her strong start to the season, leading Springs Valley with 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting. She also had five rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Maci Eckerty pretty much provided the rest of the Blackhawks' offense, putting up 16 points. She also had four rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Leigh Carnes was the only other Blackhawk who scored, putting up three points. The senior also had five rebounds and two steals. Tori McCormick had five rebounds and three assists. Kynleigh Dalton had three rebounds and an assist. Jordyn Land had a rebound. Springs Valley (6-0, 1-0 PLAC) has now won six games in a row to start the season. The Blackhawks will return to play on Thursday, hosting Northeast Dubois.
