Springs Valley takes overtime win over Vincennes Rivet

The Springs Valley girls' basketball team hosted Vincennes Rivet on Saturday, winning 40-34. The Blackhawks fought closely with Rivet, leading by four points at the end of the first half. At the end of the third quarter the ‘Hawks led by just one point. Rivet tied the game at the end of the fourth quarter, forcing overtime. Ultimately the ‘Hawks persevered, taking a six-point win partly thanks to their 12 points off turnovers compared to Rivet’s two. Maddie Carnes led the way in points with Maci Eckerty following closely behind. Carnes had 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Eckerty had 13 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Rounding things out for the ‘Hawks Tori McCormick had eight points and four rebounds, Gracie Breedlove had three points and six rebounds, Jordyn Land had two points and seven rebounds, Josie Robison had one rebound, and Leigh Carnes had one rebound and one steal. Springs Valley (16-2, 4-0 PLAC), will have a chance to win the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference when it travels to Crawford County on Tuesday.
