Springs Valley boys' cross country finishes 5th at North Harrison, girls 13th

The Springs Valley cross country team loaded up the buses on Thursday for a trip to the North Harrison Invite and the drive was well worth it. The Blackhawk boys soared at the event, taking fifth place as a team out of the 22 squads in the competition. The girls were also competitive, finishing 13th out of 22 teams. Grant Brown was the man once again for Springs Valley, bringing home a trophy with a seventh-place finish and a season-best time of 17:30.8. Carson Brown was also excellent, finishing 19th to earn a medal and setting a new personal record of 18:15.6. Alan Marshall rounded out Springs Valley's medalists with a 21st-place finish and a time of 18:32.2. Owen Weisensteiner and Max Pendley each impressed in their first cross country race. The seniors placed 48th and 55th respectively with times of 20:13.9 and 20:50.9. Harold Dybsetter also ran his first varsity race, finishing 108th with a time of 28:16/9, Matthew Woolsey set a new personal record in 102nd at 24:59.3, and the duo of Henry Dybsetter and Keaton Thacker ran in the junior varsity race, logging times of 31:15.1 and 33: 34.3 respectively. On the girls' side of the race, Keira Lynch continued her strong sophomore season with another team-topping performance. She was the first Blackhawks to cross the finish line, doing so in 62nd with a time of 25:38.6. Sophie Harris ran a season-best time to place 68th, Jadyn Lynch was just behind her in 77th with a time of 26:51.2, Alexis Courtney ran a season-best time of 32:49.3, and in her first cross country race Lily Hickman finished 100th. The Blackhawks will return to action on Tuesday, competing at Northeast Dubois.
