The Springs Valley girls' golf team was presented with a challenge on Thursday as it traveled to Green Acres Country Club in Paoli to take on the Rams as well as fellow Orange County rival Orleans. The Blackhawks play that course less often than both teams it was competing with, putting them behind the ball, and Green Acres' unique quirks make it a challenging course even for those who do know it inside out. Thursday was no exception with lightning-fast greens and firm fairways giving players from all three teams headaches. Springs Valley ultimately came out on top though, using a score of 226 to beat Paoli's 232 and Orleans' 242. Macy Hall used her experience to lead the way for the Blackhawks, carding a 51 to earn medalist honors for the match. Mia Cruz wasn't too far behind her with a 53, finishing second overall. Karmen Hall shot a 60 for Springs Valley, Dallas Hendrix finished with a 62, Logan Watts scored a 68 and Maggie Dennis rounded out the scorecard with a 72. The Blackhawks will return to play on Tuesday, hosting North Daviess and Mitchell.
