Barrage of aces puts Blackhawks by Rock Creek in straight sets

The Springs Valley volleyball team kept things rolling on Saturday, using the momentum it had built to roll by Rock Creek Academy 25-12, 25-7, 25-10. The Blackhawks were seemingly unstoppable at the service line, committing just two errors on 72 attempts. They also racked up an impressive 25 aces, led by Miya Campbell’s nine-ace effort. Maddie Carnes and Leigh Carnes were also strong, racking up seven and six aces respectively. Springs Valley also featured an efficient offense when it did have to employ one. The Blackhawks hit .323 as a team, led by Leigh Carnes who put down 11 kills on 21 attempts with just one error. Alayna Denbo also hit well with five kills on 10 attempts and one error. The defensive effort was led by Leigh Carnes, Brynne Buchanan and Maddie Carnes, who combined for 23 of the Blackhawks’ 31 digs. Molly Tucker and Tynley Kluesner were also key as they did well on serve receive. The win was the 11th in a row for Springs Valley (13-2, 2-0 PLAC). The Blackhawks will try to extend both that streak and their conference winning streak on Monday when they travel to Orleans.
