Springs Valley boys finish 3rd, girls 5th at Tri-County Invitational

The Springs Valley cross country team traveled to Northeast Dubois on Tuesday to compete in the Tri-County Invitational. The Blackhawk boys found plenty of success, finishing third as a team out of the seven teams assembled. The Blackhawk girls placed fifth. Springs Valley was led by a pair of top 10 finishes in the boys' race as Grant Brown placed fourth with a time of 18:12 and Alan Marshall placed sixth with a time of 18:56. Each of them brought home a medal. The Blackhawks also had a trio of ribbon winners in the boys' race as Carson Brown finished 16th, Owen Weisensteiner finished 21st, and Max Pendley finished 25th. Matthew Woolsey placed 38th and Harold Dybsetter placed 42nd to round out the varsity race for Valley. Henry Dybsetter finished 19th and Keaton Thacker placed 21st in the junior varsity race. The Blackhawk girls were led by three ribbon winners. Keira Lynch paced the 'Hawks with a time of 26:23 and a 16th-place finish. Sophie Harris finished just after her in 17th with a time of 27:15 and Jadyn Lynch placed 21st with a time of 28:30. Behind them Josie Robison ran a season-best time of 31:04 to finish 26th, Alexis Courtney placed 29th, and Lily Hickman rounded out the race in 31st. The Blackhawks will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to Lincoln City to compete in the Heritage Hills Patriot Invitational.
