Springs Valley volleyball ousts White River Valley in straight sets

The Springs Valley volleyball team closed out a big week on Saturday with a 25-12, 25-16, 25-7 sweep of the White River Valley Wolverines. The Blackhawks set the tone with their serving, racking up 17 aces as a team while committing just eight errors on 73 attempts. Tynley Kluesner led the way with eight aces, Maddie Carnes had six, and Brynne Buchanan, Kinsey Saliba, and Molly Tucker each had one. Bella Nottger led the way for Springs Valley in attack, throwing down 10 kills on just 14 attempts. Alayna Denbo was also strong for Springs Valley, putting up nine kills on 20 attempts, both season-bests for the senior. Carnes was just behind her with seven kills, Leigh Carnes had five, Saliba and Miya Campbell each had two, and the Blackhawks got one kill apiece from Buchanan, Tucker, and Kluesner. Tucker led the team in digs with 12, followed closely by Leigh Carnes’ 10. Other defensive standouts included Kluesner with eight digs, Buchanan with seven digs, Denbo with three blocks, and Maddie Carnes with two blocks. Springs Valley (17-3, 4-0 PLAC) will be back in action on Monday, hosting Tecumseh.
