The Springs Valley cross country team hit the road for an important late-season tune-up on Saturday, competing at the Crawford County Invite. In the event, the Blackhawks got an opportunity to run the course they’ll compete at for the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference meet, then again for sectional and possibly for regional as well. They took full advantage of that opportunity, logging some strong results including a quintet of new personal records. Owen Weisensteiner’s new PR of 19:18.8 got him into the top 40. The senior placed 37th and won a medal. Matthew Woolsey, Henry Dybsetter, and Keaton Thacker also set new personal records to finish 129th, 148th, and 158th respectively. The Blackhawks also got a PR performance from Jadyn Lynch, who raced to a time of 24:42.5 and a 53rd-place finish. Grant Brown was excellent again for Springs Valley, finishing fifth with a time of 17:09.7. Other medal-winners for Valley in the boys’ race included Alan Marshall (21st), Carson Brown (38th), and Max Pendley (59th). In the girls’ race, the one Blackhawk to win a medal other than Jadyn Lynch was Keira Lynch, who placed 46th. Alexis Courtney logged a season-best time of 28:50.0 to finish 90th, Sophie Harris finished 61st, Josie Robison finished 100th, and Lily Hickman finished 111th. Harold Dybsetter rounded out the boys’ race for Springs Valley by finishing 147th. The Blackhawks will run next on Thursday, once again battling the hills of Paoli as they compete at the Paoli Invite.
