Blackhawk boys win North Harrison Invite, girls place eighth

The Springs Valley boys’ and girls’ track team traveled to North Harrison on Friday to compete against 11 other teams. For the boys, Alan Marshall won the 800m and 1600m with a time of 1:59.43 and 4:30.79 respectively. Larron Childers won both the shot put and discus with throws of 48’ 05” and 153’ 1” respectively. Jaheim Hamilton won the long jump with a 20’ 7”. Carson Brown and Grant Brown cruised to a one-two finish in the 3200m run. Freshman Graham Nottger ran a new personal record of 44.27 in the 300m hurdles making him the fourth-fastest in school history. For the girls, Kinsey Saliba won the 100m hurdles with a new personal record of 16.33, making her the second-fastest in school history. Saliba was also a part of the second-place 4x100 meter relay team of Miya Campbell, Macie Mayhew, and Gracie Breedlove. The boys won the meet for the second year in a row with 158 points. Tell City came second with 133 points and Corydon Central was third with 119 points. The girls got eighth-place with 34 points. Corydon Central won with 157 points. Silver Creek came in second with 115 points and Tell City third with 99.5 points. The Blackhawks will be back in action at Mitchell against Bedford North Lawrence and Mitchell on Monday.
