The Springs Valley cross country team returned to the hills of Paoli's course on Thursday to compete in the 2022 Paoli Invite. The trip was a fruitful one as the Blackhawk boys claimed the team title, the girls finished second, and every single Blackhawk who ran on Thursday left Paoli with either a trophy, a medal, a ribbon, or some sort of personal record. Grant Brown led the way in the boys' race, literally and figuratively. The junior took the event's individual championship, placing first with a time 17:43. Springs Valley also claimed second and third place with Alan Marshall and Carson Brown coming in behind Grant in that order. Owen Weisensteiner, Max Pendley, Matthew Woolsey, and Harold Dybsetter all left the course with ribbons, finishing 12th, 15th, 32nd, and 35th respectively. Weisensteiner, Pendley, Woolsey and Henry Dybsetter also set course personal records. Keaton Thacker rounded out the even for the Blackhawks by setting a new overall personal record with a time of 29:52. In the girls' race the Blackhawks got three top 10 finishes. Sophie Harris paced the team with a season-best time of 24:44, finishing fourth in the process. Keira Lynch was just five seconds behind her, finishing fifth, and Jadyn Lynch placed eighth with a time of 25:33. Alexis Courtney won a ribbon with a 16th-plac finish and Josie Robison also won a ribbon in 17th. On the team leaderboard, the Valley boys outpaced Northeast Dubois by 11 points with a team score of 33. The Jeeps took the girls' race, beating out the Blackhawks. Springs Valley will hit the course again on Tuesday, traveling to Jasper for a sectional warm-up.
