Running 'Hawks open season at Running Ranger Invite

The Springs Valley cross country team opened its season on Thursday, traveling to Forest Park to compete in the Running Ranger Invite. The Blackhawk boys placed fifth as a team while the Blackhawk girls placed sixth. Carson Brown led the way for Springs Valley, placing second overall with a time of 16:23. Henry Dybsetter had a strong run, placing 21st at 19:07. Andre Ayres also cracked the top 40, recording a time of 20:03 to place 35th. Harry Dybsetter finished 42nd with a time of 20:47. Freshman Belle Roberts was Springs Valley's top girls' runner. She recorded a time of 24:00 to place 18th in her varsity debut. Jadyn Lynch finished next for the 'Hawks in 23rd at 24:40. Sophie Harris finished 34th at 25:42 and Keira Lynch finished 41st at 26:53. "You know, great way to kickoff the season. Couldn't be more proud of the kids," Springs Valley coach Derek Freeman said. "We keep telling our kids to stay consistent and positive. This is a great starting point to see how we will grow throughout the rest of the season." The Blackhawks will run again on Saturday, competing at Bloomfield's Cardinal Invite.
