Blackhawk volleyball knocks off Wood Memorial in home opener

The Springs Valley volleyball team played host to Wood Memorial on Saturday, winning 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-17. Maddie Carnes led the way for the Blackhawks, racking up 37 assists and tallying 12 kills from the setter position. Kinsey Saliba led the team with 17 kills and two blocks and also had four aces. Haylin Cave was strong in the back row, recording a team-high 14 digs and seven aces. Springs Valley (3-1) will return to the court on Tuesday, hosting Crawford County for its Patoka Lake Athletic Conference opener. The Blackhawks are nine-time defending champions in the conference.
