The Springs Valley football team traveled to Eastern Greene on Friday, beating the Thunderbirds 45-0. The Blackhawks racked up 19 points in the first quarter to set the tone, then coasted to a 25-0 halftime lead. A third-quarter touchdown made it 31-0 and two fourth-quarter touchdowns punctuated the victory. Springs Valley's defense came out hot, holding Eastern Greene to just 158 yards on 47 plays, a mere 3.3 yards per play. The Blackhawk defense also held the T-Birds to four third-down conversions on 12 attempts and zero fourth-down conversions on two attempts. Springs Valley also recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass. "I loved the energy and excitement that our kids came out and played with," Springs Valley coach Jason Lowe said. "This is a very energetic group and I love watching them play with that emotion." The Blackhawk offense, led by Christian Hamilton, was incredibly efficient. The 'Hawks ran for 411 yards as a team, averaging more than nine yards per carry and finishing with 446 yards of total offense. Hamilton had more than half of that production by himself, finishing with 279 yards. The win is the fourth in a row for Springs Valley (1-0) over the Thunderbirds. The Blackhawks have scored at least 40 points in three of the last four games in the series. They'll try to keep their momentum moving forward this week when they host the Mitchell Bluejackets with a chance to start 2-0 for the fourth season in a row.
