Springs Valley volleyball conquers Crawford County in straight sets

The Springs Valley volleyball team hosted Crawford County on Tuesday evening, winning 25-19, 25-16, 25-19. The Blackhawks' defense won the match with libero Haylin Cave leading the way. The freshman compiled a team-high 15 digs and made six passes on serve receive. Kinsey Saliba was also strong defensively with nine digs. The junior also had two blocks, 12 serve-receive passes, and 11 kills. Maddie Carnes was also a key contributor, leading the team with 18 assists and five aces. She also had 8 kills, five digs, and a block. The victory was the 55th in a row for Springs Valley (4-1, 1-0 PLAC) in Patoka Lake Athletic Conference play. The Blackhawks are pursuing their 10th consecutive conference championship. They'll try to add another win to the streak on Tuesday, Sept. 3, but before then they'll travel to Bloomfield on Wednesday and host a round robin on Saturday.
