Springs Valley student-athletes Carson Brown, Dane Harris, and Denver Rowlett were awarded IHSAA Champions Pins on Wednesday by Springs Valley Athletic Director Jerry Chaney. The pins, part of a program sponsored by the Indiana High School Athletic Association, are awarded to students who demonstrate the values of sportsmanship while competing in high school athletics. Brown, Harris, and Rowlett join recent recipients Kinsey Saliba and Matthew Woolsey as honorees. Brown, a senior, competes for Springs Valley in cross country and track and field. He just recently won the individual championship at the Bloomfield Cardinal Invitational. He's also a former All-State honoree, a school record-holder for the Springs Valley track and field program as a distance runner, and he helped lead Blackhawk track to its first sectional championship last spring. Harris has competed for Springs Valley in cross country, basketball, and track & field. A sophomore, Harris was a part of last Fall's regional-qualifying cross country team and performed excellently at the Crawford County Sectional, setting a PR in his State Tournament debut. Rowlett, a senior, returned to the Springs Valley cross country team this fall after previously running as a freshman. He set a new personal record when the Blackhawks opened their season at the Forest Park Running Ranger Invitational.
