The Springs Valley football team played host to Mitchell on Friday, defeating their Patoka Lake Athletic Conference foe 75-12. The Blackhawks poured on 42 unanswered points in the first quarter and it was smooth sailing from there as they put together one of the most dominant offensive performances in program history. The Blackhawks ran for 426 yards and 10 touchdowns over the course of the game, also throwing for 39 yards and another touchdown. The Springs Valley defense was superb as well, forcing Mitchell to commit five turnovers and holding the Bluejackets to -8 rushing yards in the game. The Bluejackets' only offensive successes came via the air as they totaled 130 passing yards. Mitchell also converted only three of its 10 third-down attempts. "I just thought our kids came out and executed the game plan very well," Springs Valley coach Jason Lowe said. "We wanted to make sure that we were physical and disciplined from the start of the game and I think we did both of those things. Our kids did a great job of preparing all week and it showed on Friday night." Springs Valley (2-0, 1-0 PLAC) has now started its season with a pair of wins for the fourth consecutive season. The Blackhawks will try to make it three wins in a row on this week when they host Orange County rival Paoli, whom they haven't defeated since 2015.
