Springs Valley sets new single-season wins record with sweep of Lanesville

The Springs Valley volleyball team continued it's state tournament run on Saturday morning in regional semifinal action against Lanesville at Loogootee. With a spot in the regional title match on the line the Blackhawks shined, sweeping the Eagles 25-10, 25-22, 25-15. Leigh Carnes led the way for the Blackhawks in attack, throwing down 15 kills on 25 attempts with just two errors to give her a monstrous .520 hitting percentage. The junior also had 15 assists, seven digs, three aces, and a block. Maddie Carnes was also efficient with 11 kills on 28 attempts, giving her a .320 hitting percentage after two errors. She also led the team with 23 assists while also having seven digs, one ace, and one block. Alayna Denbo led Springs Valley with three blocks, Tynley Kluesner tied for the team lead with three aces, and Molly Tucker led the Blackhawks in digs with 12. Springs Valley (30-4, 6-0 PLAC) set a new high-water mark in the wins column by beating Lanesville, eclipsing its previous best of 29 with its 30th win of the season. The Blackhawks will now get a rematch in the regional championship match, taking on Class 1A No. 2 Tecumseh at 6 p.m. at Loogootee's Jack Butcher Arena.
