The Springs Valley football team hosted West Washington on Friday, winning 55-15. The Blackhawks got off to a hot start, leading 14-0 after one quarter. That turned into a 35-7 halftime lead, then a 49-15 lead after three quarters. A fourth-quarter touchdown brought the Blackhawks' final margin of victory to 40 points. Christian Hamilton stood out once again for the Blackhawks. The senior ran for three touchdowns and then scored a fourth on a kick return. Springs Valley also got rushing touchdowns from Augie Purkhiser, Blake Buchanan, and Brycen Cave. Buchanan also threw a touchdown, connecting with Keyton Jones for a 24-yard score. The Blackhawk defense was stout, forcing a pair of turnovers while keeping the Senator offense dormant for much of the night. Hamilton and Landon Weeks each had an interception in the game. Kayce Jones was also exceptional with six tackles including two tackles for a loss and three quarterback hurries. Augie Purkhiser led the team with eight tackles. Brycen Cave also had a strong night, making seven tackles. Springs Valley (3-1, 2-1 PLAC) will try to build on its success on Friday when it hosts Salem for Homecoming.
