The Springs Valley cross country team competed in the Heritage Hills Invitational on Saturday and received quite the performance from one of its leaders. Carson Brown, a senior, not only won the boys' race — his 5K time was better than any other in Springs Valley history. Brown completed the race with a time of 15:49.65, breaking the record his brother Grant set last year by just more than a second. The Blackhawk boys also got new personal records from Matthew Woolsey, Jimmy Curry, Hunter Thomas, Tucker Hatfield, and Eli Collins. Andre Ayres and Henry Dybsetter cracked the top 15 at the event, finishing 13th and 15th respectively. Belle Roberts led the Valley girls, finishing 15th with a personal-record time of 22:46.57. Jadyn Lynch ran a season-best time to place 17th, Sophie Harris finished 23rd, Addi Moffatt finished 29th, and Keira Lynch placed 32nd. Loran Rayls ran her best time ever to finish 41st. The boys placed third out of 12 teams at the event. The girls placed fourth. Springs Valley will run next on Tuesday, competing in the Orange County Meet at Orleans.
