Saturday saw some strong performances from the Springs Valley cross country team as it battled at the Crawford County Invitational. The boys were superb, claiming the team championship by a whopping 39 points with a low score of 81. Perry Central finished second with a score of 120. Carson Brown was a huge part of that victory, taking the individual championship as well with a time of 16:57. Henry Dybsetter had a great race as well, running his way to a top 10 finish in eighth. Andre Ayres finished 14th, Harry Dybsetter finished 25th, and Dane Harris finished 33rd to round out the scoring for Springs Valley. The Blackhawks also saw strong performances from Jaydon Novak, Tucker Hatfield, and Eli Collins, who all recorded personal-record performances. Van Leininger also made his cross country debut in the event. The girls were unable to record a team score due to the absence of Keira and Jadyn Lynch at Crawford County, but the 'Hawks who did run performed well. Sophie Harris placed 20th, Belle Roberts finished 22nd — the eighth-best time among freshmen at the event — Addi Moffatt ran her best time of the season, 24:21, to finish 24th, and Loran Rayls finished 56th. The event was a strong tune-up for Springs Valley, as they'll race at Crawford County next Saturday for the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference championships. Prior to that they will compete at the Paoli Invitational on Thursday.
