JV boys take down Mitchell in season opener

The Springs Valley junior varsity boys' basketball team traveled to Mitchell on Monday to take on the Bluejackets. The trip was fruitful, as the Blackhawks walked away with a 53-45 victory. A tough third quarter had Springs Valley trailing 37-31, but the Blackhawks regained their lead by outscoring the Bluejackets 22-8 in the game's final period. The Blackhawks maintained a balanced offense over the course of the game, with four players scoring at least eight points. Keyton Jones led the way with 13 including five in the fourth quarter, Christian Hamilton finished with 11 after also scoring five in the fourth. Kayce Jones scored nine, Parker Chaplin had eight, Evan Brown put up four, Blake Buchanan and Landon Farris each had three, and Landon Weeks rounded out the scoring with two.
