Valley volleyball falls to Tecumseh in clash of ranked teams

The Springs Valley volleyball team played host to Class 2A No. 6 Tecumseh on Tuesday, losing 25-17, 25-17, 25-18. The Blackhawks were competitive through the early stretches of each set, but were unable to keep up down the stretch. Kinsey Saliba was the lone Blackhawk to reach double-digit kills in the match, recording 14. Impressively she did so while maintaining a strong .324 hitting percentage. Kyan Green had a solid hitting night as well, killing five of her eight attempts without any errors. Green added a pair of aces at the service line, leading the team in that category. Maci Eckerty was a rock in the backcourt. The junior libero was peppered with attacks throughout the match but racked up a team-high 11 digs. She also made 17 passes on serve receive. Emmy Saliba also had 11 digs. Maddie Carnes totaled 26 assists in the match, also recording six digs, two kills, and an ace. Springs Valley (16-3, 4-0 PLAC) saw its five-match winning stream come to an end with the loss. The Blackhawks will try to begin a new streak on Saturday when they travel to Blue River Valley for the Class A Showdown. They'll take on Indianapolis Lutheran, Blue River Valley, and Morristown in pool play.
