Springs Valley cross country sweeps team titles at Paoli Invitational

The Springs Valley cross country team traveled to Paoli on Thursday night. The boys took the team championship, clearing Bloomington Bobcats Home School by four points; the girls won their team championship as well, knocking off Northeast Dubois by four points. Carson Brown didn't just set the pace for the Blackhawks, he paced the whole field. The senior won the individual championship with a time of 17:53. Henry Dybsetter set a new course personal record to finish fifth and the Blackhawks also got a top 10 finish from Dane Harris who set a course PR and placed ninth. Harry Dybsetter finished 11th and Matthew Woolsey finished 22nd to round out Springs Valley's scoring. The Blackhawk boys also got new personal records from Keaton Thacker, Van Leininger, and Jaydon Novak. Belle Roberts was Springs Valley's top finisher in the girls' race. The freshman placed third, finishing just over a minute behind the champion. Jadyn Lynch was right behind Roberts, placing fourth and setting a new course PR. Sophie Harris finished eighth, Addi Moffatt finished 13th with a new course PR, and Keira Lynch finished 26th. Springs Valley will run again on Saturday, traveling to Jasper. That will be the Blackhawks' final tune-up before they compete in the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference Meet on Saturday, Oct. 12.
