Springs Valley cross country competes at Patoka Lake Athletic Conference meet

The Springs Valley cross country team traveled to Crawford County on Saturday, putting together a strong all-around performance. The boys won their second consecutive team championship led by Carson Brown, who won Springs Valley's first individual championship, and the girls placed second. Brown's performance wasn't only historic in that he won the individual title, but in the way he did it as well. The senior set a new school and conference record with a time of 15:44. He's now earned all-conference honors in three consecutive seasons. The Blackhawks escaped Orleans and Perry Central by just three and four points respectively, making each performance a crucial one for the boys' team. Henry Dybsetter placed fourth, making the all-conference team with a new personal-record time of 17:46. Andre Ayres was an all-conference performer as well, finishing ninth with a season-best time of r 18:07. Dane Harris finished 13th with a new personal record of 18:35 and Harry Dybsetter was one second behind him with a season-best performance to finish 14th. Matthew Woolsey and Keaton Thacker placed 24th and 27th, each recording a new personal record as well. Belle Roberts was the girls' top finisher, earning her first all-conference honor with a fifth-place finish and personal-record time of 22:40. Sophie Harris earned a spot on the all-conference team as well by finishing ninth. Jadyn Lynch was Valley's final all-conference honoree as she placed 10th with a season-best time of 23:06. Addi Moffatt finished 12th, Loran Rayls set a new PR to place 18th, and Keira Lynch finished 20th. The Blackhawks will get a week off from competition before returning to Crawford County for their sectional competition on Saturday, Oct. 19.
