The Springs Valley football team hosted North Daviess on Friday, beating the Cougars 49-0. It was a familiar script for the Blackhawks as they ran out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, scored 14 more in the second to take a 35-0 halftime lead, and then scored a pair of touchdowns in the second half to wrap things up. Christian Hamilton did his work early, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the first half and racking up 166 yards to break Springs Valley's single-season rushing yards record. He now has 1,833 yards and 29 touchdowns for the season and has rushed for more than 100 yards in every single game that Blackhawks have played. Blake Buchanan also had a solid performance, completing three of his four pass attempts for 91 yards and a touchdown. All three of those passes were caught by James Walls. Buchanan also ran the ball six times for 19 yards and two touchdowns. Brycen Cave and Augie Purkhiser each had a rushing touchdown as well. Noah Allstott led the Blackhawk defense with seven tackles including two for a loss. The junior also had a sack. Augie Purkhiser had five tackles with 1.5 tackles for a loss and a pass deflection. Teagun Rominger, Kolton Russell, and Kayce Jones each had a sack. Easton Burton and Zach Lindsey each got half of a sack. Walls intercepted a pass and forced a fumble. Hamilton recovered that fumble. Jones forced a fumble and Burton blocked a punt. Graden McGee completed each of his seven extra point attempts, making him Springs Valley's record-holder for single-season kicking points with 60. The senior has also set a new record for consecutive extra points made with 20 in a row. This game was the final regular-season game for one of Springs Valley's finer senior classes in some time. They hold a career record of 32-10 which is better than every graduating class since 1995. The class of 1995 held a record of 34-9. Only eight classes in the 64-year history of Springs Valley football have won more games than the current seniors. Springs Valley (8-1, 4-1 PLAC) has now won six consecutive games and has now allowed a point in the last four weeks. The last score against the Blackhawks came on a second-quarter touchdown by Salem on September 20. Next up for the Blackhawks is a sectional rematch with Providence, making this the third consecutive season in which the 'Hawks have played the Pioneers in the state tournament. Last year's version of this game came in the sectional championship game and the Pioneers have won each of the two matchups, but this year's game will be the first played at Springs Valley.
