Running 'Hawks qualify for regional with strong sectional performance

The Springs Valley cross country teams had a historic outing on Saturday's Crawford County Sectional. For the first time ever, the Blackhawk boys and girls were able to advance as a team to the regional round of the state tournament in the same season. The boys placed fifth and the girls placed fourth. Carson Brown led the way for the boys, making history with the best finishing position in Springs Valley history. The senior became the first Blackhawk to place second at a sectional meet. Henry Dybsetter set a new personal record of 17:40 to finish 21st. Andre Ayres placed 29th with a season-best time of 18:01. Dane Harris set a new PR of 18:04 to finish 30th, and Harry Dybsetter rounded out Springs Valley's scoring with a 31st-place finish. He had a season-best time of 18:07. Matthew Woolsey placed 61st and Keaton Thacker set a new personal record of 20:37 to finish 63rd. Sophie Harris was the girls' top finisher, placing 17th with a season-best time of 21:32. Jadyn Lynch had a personal-record time of 22:02 to finish 20th. Belle Roberts finished 32nd, Addi Moffat's season-best time of 23:36 earned her a 33rd-place finish, and Keira Lynch was Valley's final scorer in 42nd with a season-best time of 24:10. Loran Rayls set a new PR in 44th, finishing with a time of 24:13. The Blackhawks will get a short break before running at the Evansville Regional next Saturday with spots at the State Finals on the line.
