The Springs Valley football team hosted Providence in the quarterfinal round of IHSAA Sectional 48 on Friday, falling 35-20. The Pioneers did all the early scoring, taking a 21-point lead into the halftime break thanks in part to a hail-mary touchdown right at the horn. The Blackhawks got on the board in the third quarter but still trailed 28-7 heading to the fourth quarter. They managed to cut the lead to 28-14, but that's as close as they would get as they traded touchdowns with the Pioneers in the closing minutes. Christian Hamilton made history in his final game as a Blackhawk. The senior ran the ball 23 times for 224 yards and two touchdowns, becoming the first Blackhawk to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season in the process. His single-season rushing record stands at 2,057 yards. Blake Buchanan completed three of his four passes for 65 yards with a touchdown and an interception. All three of those completions were to James Walls. Kayce Jones led the Springs Valley defense with 14 tackles and six tackles for a loss. The senior also had a sack. Noah Allstott also had a big game, making 12 tackles including three for a loss and a sack. Graden McGee made two of his three extra-point attempts. He finished with the most kicking points in a single season by a Blackhawk with 62. He also holds the record for most consecutive extra points made by a Blackhawk. Springs Valley closes the season with an 8-2 record, the second consecutive season in which they have won eight games.
