Valley volleyball earns quartet of IHSVCA All-District honors

The Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced its All-District honorees on Monday. Among those honored in the Class 1A South District included four Springs Valley Blackhawks. Maddie Carnes earned her third All-District honor. The junior captain led the 'Hawks with a strong all-around season. She had 669 assists, 271 digs, 221 kills, 65 aces, and 23 blocks. Springs Valley's other captain, Kinsey Saliba, also made the team. A first-time honoree, Saliba led the Blackhawks with 379 kills and 51 blocks this season. She also had 169 digs and 48 aces. The Blackhawks also placed their libero, Maci Eckerty, on the All-District team. Another first-time honoree, Eckerty led the Blackhawks with 390 digs and 412 serve-receive passes. She also had 48 aces. On top of the three players who were honored, Springs Valley coach Erin Carnes was also named the Class 1A South District Coach of the Year. She led the Blackhawks to their 12th consecutive 20-win season and their fourth season in a row with at least 25 wins. She also led the Blackhawks to their 12th Patoka Lake Athletic Conference championship and their sixth sectional championship during her tenure and broke a regional championship drought that lasted 25 years.
