Slow first half stops Springs Valley at Barr-Reeve

The Springs Valley boys' basketball team traveled to Montgomery on Friday night for a Sectional 63 showdown with Barr-Reeve. Despite a strong second-half effort in which they tied the Vikings 31-31, the Blackhawks couldn't overcome their 14-point halftime deficit and fell 53-39. Deion Edwards led the way for Springs Valley, scoring a game-high 14 points. He also grabbed four rebounds, made one assist, and tallied a steal as well. Mavrick Land also logged a solid scoring night, finishing with a season-high 12 points thanks in part to two made 3-pointers. He also had three rebounds. Konner Chase was held scoreless in the game, but still managed to make an impact. He led the Blackhawks with eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Jaheim Hamilton finished with six points and four steals, Larron Childers had five points, Keaton Pritchett had two points and two assists, and Xander Cook racked up six rebounds. Springs Valley (2-2, 1-1 PLAC) will hit the court next on Saturday evening, taking on Lanesville in French Lick.
