The Springs Valley boys' basketball team returned to The Hawk's Nest on Saturday for a matchup with Lanesville. The Blackhawks outpaced the Eagles with ease, taking a 71-54 victory. Deion Edwards lit Lanesville up to the tune of 22 points, hitting eight of his 17 shots from the field as well as all five of his free-throw attempts. He also grabbed five rebounds, assisted on three baskets, and blocked a shot. Mavrick Land remained hot, knocking down four of seven 3-point attempts on his way to a career-high 14 points. Konner Chase also scored in double-digits, finishing with 10 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block. Other Springs Valley scorers in the win included James Walls with seven points, Xander Cook with four points, Keaton Pritchett and Jaheim Hamilton with three points apiece, and the trio of Keyton Jones, Larron Childers, and Max Pendley with two points each. A big part of the Blackhawks' advantage in the game came thanks to their effort on the glass. They outrebounded Lanesville 32-19, with Pritchett (six), Chase (five), Edwards (five), and Cook (five) combining for 21 boards themselves. Hamilton, Childers, and Walls had three rebounds apiece. Land finished with two. Springs Valley (3-2, 1-1 PLAC) will return to action on Friday, traveling to Perry Central for a Patoka Lake Athletic Conference matchup.
