The Springs Valley boys' basketball team hosted Mitchell on Tuesday, losing 62-57. The game was tight throughout as Mitchell led just 17-15 after the first quarter and the Bluejackets' halftime lead was 30-24. Springs Valley battled back, outscoring the Bluejackets 33-30 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Deion Edwards started his senior season with a bang, leading the way with 21 points and five rebounds. Evan Brown and Kayce Jones were key as well, going for 12 points and 11 points respectively. Brown also had 11 rebounds to secure a double-double. Jones had four rebounds and two steals. Christian Hamilton had five points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Landon Weeks had five points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Keyton Jones had two points, four rebounds, and a team-high four assists. Blaake Buchanan had one rebound. Springs Valley (0-1, 0-1 PLAC) opens its season with a loss for the fifth time in the last six seasons, but it will get a chance to even its record on Dec. 6 when it hosts Orange County rival Orleans.
