Blackhawk girls fall to Barr-Reeve

The Springs Valley girls' basketball team hosted Barr-Reeve on Tuesday, falling 64-48. A slow first quarter in which the 'Hawks were outscored 12-2 set the tone for the evening and they were unable to catch up. The Vikings' lead grew to 31-17 by halftime and though Springs Valley played a strong quarter, it trailed 45-38 at the start of the fourth quarter. Barr-Reeve outscored the Blackhawks 19-10 in the fourth to seal the deal. Maci Eckerty played an excellent game for Valley, recording an incredible 30 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. The junior also had two assists. She hit five of her eight 3-point attempts, three of four free throws, and finished shooting just under 50 percent from the field. Gracie Breedlove was the other significant scorer for the Blackhawks, putting up 13 points. She also had five rebounds and made five of six free-throw attempts. Jordyn Land finished with three points and four rebounds, Kynleigh Dalton scored two points and led the team with three assists, Josie Robison had three rebounds, Kenna McNeely had six rebounds, and Kadee McGuire had two rebounds. Springs Valley (4-2, 1-0 PLAC) saw a three-game winning streak come to an end with the loss. The Blackhawks will try to bounce back on Thursday on the road against rival Northeast Dubois.
