The Springs Valley boys' basketball program took on its first opponent in the Accelerated Growth Capital Holiday Classic on Wednesday, hosting Pike Central at The Hawk's Nest. A slow start would bury the Blackhawks, as after falling behind 19-8 at the end of the first quarter they never recovered, losing 78-48. Deion Edwards led Springs Valley's scoring with eight points. He was also the team's leading rebounder with six. Max Pendley and Keaton Pritchett each chipped in seven points, Mavrick Land and Konner Chase scored five apiece, Jaheim Hamilton had four points, and James Walls and Larron Childers finished with three points each. Pendley's scoring total represented a career high and he reached it on just four shots from the field. Chase was Springs Valley's assists leader with five. Pendley and Childers tied for the team high in steals with two each. Hamilton had the only two Springs Valley blocks of the evening. Springs Valley (4-4, 2-1 PLAC) will continue Holiday Classic play on Thursday, taking on Charlestown to close the event.
