Entering Friday evening's matchup with West Washington, the Springs Valley boys' basketball team was struggling. It's last five games had been tough matchups that resulted in tough results, but the Blackhawks hoped they'd get right against the Senators at The Nest. That's what they did. Behind some hot shooting from beyond the 3-point line, the 'Hawks took down their Patoka Lake Athletic Conference foe 56-51. Deion Edwards led Springs Valley with 14 points and six rebounds in the game. He also had a pair of assists and hit five of his nine shots from inside the arc. Konner Chase was excellent as well, scoring 13 points on five-of-seven shooting from the field including three of his five 3-point attempts. He tied Edwards for the lead in rebounds with six. Mavrick Land was hot from downtown, taking four 4-pointers and making three of them on his way to nine points. His effort led the Blackhawks to an 8/18 mark from deep. Larron Childers finished with eight points, even hitting a three. Jaheim Hamilton had five, Xander Cook finished with four, and Max Pendley put up three. James Walls led the Blackhawks with five assists. Keaton Pritchett also recorded an assist. Springs Valley (5-7, 3-2 PLAC) will try to build on the win on Saturday when it hosts Shoals.
