The Springs Valley girls' basketball team traveled to New Albany last night riding a three-game winning streak and, with a victory over Christian Academy, the Blackhawks managed to extend it to four. It was a tighter victory than they'd hoped for — they won 33-30 after trailing 26-25 at the end of the third quarter — but they made the plays that they needed to at the end of the game to make it happen nevertheless. Maddie Carnes led the charge for Springs Valley, finishing with game highs in points and rebounds with 14 and eight respectively. She also had four blocks and made four of her five free throws. Macy Hall and Maci Eckerty were Springs Valley's other main scorers against Christian Academy. The former put up seven points while hitting three of her six shots from the field. The latter also finished with seven points, hitting the Blackhawks' only 3-pointer in the process. Eckerty also had six rebounds to join Carnes as the only 'Hawks with more than three boards. Bella Nottger and Tori McCormick added on two points apiece, Ashlyn Bonta scored one, and Brynne Buchanan led the team with three assists. Gracie Allstott made her return from injury against the Warriors as well. Springs Valley (13-7, 5-1 PLAC) will try to continue its upswing on Tuesday when it travels to Tell City.
