The Springs Valley girls' basketball team rode into Tell City on Tuesday night on a four-game winning streak and hoping to avoid a letdown. Though the game was tighter than anticipated at some points in the first half, the Blackhawks managed to take a 26-16 lead into the halftime break and then blow the Marksmen away in the second half on their way to a 59-29 win. Maddie Carnes dazzled against the Marksmen, putting together one of the biggest scoring nights of her career. She fell just short of setting a new career high, equaling Tell City's team output with 29 points by herself. More impressively she did it by hitting 13 of her 23 shots from the field. The freshman also collected five rebounds, an assist, and a block. Brynne Buchanan was solid as well, finishing with six points on two-of-five shooting from beyond the arc. She also led the team with six assists, seven rebounds, and four steals. Bella Nottger posted nine points and six rebounds, Tori McCormick put up six points, Maci Eckerty had four points, five rebounds, and four assists, Gracie Allstott hit a 3-pointer, and Bella Shipman finished with two points. Ashlyn Bonta and Kynleigh Dalton each had an assist. Jordyn Land grabbed a rebound. Springs Valley (14-7, 5-1 PLAC) will wrap up its regular season on Thursday when it hosts Borden for senior night.
